The mission of the Center for Student Organizations and Leadership Development (CSOLD) is to inspire, challenge, and connect students through organization involvement, service, and leadership exploration. The office is a resource to students in the following areas: student organizations, leadership programs, fraternities and sororities, and service and service-learning opportunities.
CSOLD is a resource to over 250 student organizations in a variety of categories including academics, sport clubs, religious and spiritual, and political and social concerns. CSOLD coordinates events for student organizations, including officer training and the annual Mainstreet student organization fair.
CSOLD programs include leadership exploration, education, training, and development experiences in many different formats. Leadership programs include the annual Leadership Development Institute, Workshops on Demand, the Excellence in Leadership Award program, and “What Color is Your Personality?”™ workshops.
Fraternities and Sororities are supported through the CSOLD office. The fraternity and sorority learning community is an experience that challenges each fraternity and sorority member to commit him/herself to living to a higher standard. Members of fraternities and sororities can be found doing community service in neighborhoods near SCSU, volunteering at local events or organizing philanthropic activities to benefit local/national causes, research, and social issues.
Volunteer Connection is St. Cloud State University's community service center. Its mission is to provide students the opportunity to develop leadership skills, a sense of belonging, and civic responsibility through involvement in meaningful service. Program staff strive to promote reciprocal service that benefits both the individual and the community. Volunteer Connection also assists faculty with service-learning, which enriches the curriculum, by combining meaningful community service with academic learning. Service-learning provides "real-life" experiences to students by linking them with local communities and service providers.
