- Twin Cities Graduate Center in Maple Grove, Minnesota. The Master of Engineering Management program at this location is designed for individuals directly out of an undergraduate program or for applicants with less than five years of work experience.
- St. Paul, Minnesota. The executive Master of Engineering Management program is available for working professionals with five years or more of experience.
Twin Cities Graduate Center - Program Overview
The Master of Engineering Management program has moved from the St. Cloud State University campus to Maple Grove, Minnesota starting fall semester 2012! This exciting move will allow our students unparalleled access to internships in the Twin Cities area. Students can live in the Twin Cities and attend courses at the Twin Cities Graduate Center. The Twin Cities Graduate Center is about 60 miles southeast of the city of St. Cloud and the SCSU campus.
The MEM is a special program that prepares engineers for managerial roles. The course content is suitable for engineers, technologists, and a wide spectrum of disciplines including, but not limited to, mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, electrical, computer and software engineering, as well as chemistry, mathematics, physics, and related fields. The course draws on faculty expertise in the areas of quality engineering, project management and production, operations management, economics and administration.
The program meets the educational needs of both full students via flexible and varied delivery, responsive curriculum, a professionally qualified staff, an industry advisory council, and appropriate research and support activities.
Admission Requirements Specific to the Program
- The requirements for admission to the Master of Engineering Management program include an undergraduate engineering degree from an accredited institution.
- Applicants with undergraduate degrees in the areas of business, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or related fields may also be admitted.
- A grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- The GRE is required of all applicants who possess only an undergraduate degree.
- Minimum scores must be met for admission consideration:
- Achieve a 152 or higher verbal score on the GRE examination. (For GRE exams taken before August 2011 a verbal score of 480 or higher is needed.)
- Achieve a 144 or higher quantitative score on the GRE examination. (For GRE exams taken before August 2011 a quantitative score of 520 or higher is needed.)
- The quantitative score in particular is the absolute minimum that must be submitted for admission consideration.
- Minimum scores must be met for admission consideration:
- The GRE is waived for applicants with a post-baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution from any country.
- International students require a minimum TOEFL (iBT) score of 100 for unconditional admission. Students admitted with TOEFL scores between 79 and 99 may be required to do additional ESL (English as Second Language) courses.
- Admission decisions are made throughout the year as completed application files are received. A student may start the program fall or spring semester.

- Official undergraduate transcripts (International coursework must be submitted to WES or a NACES affiliated agency for a course-by-course evaluation).
- If you are a graduate from an engineering program at Jawaharlal Nehru Tech University, Osmania University or Tribhuvan University please send your translated, notarized transcript directly to SCSU. It is NOT necessary to secure an evaluation from WES or another NACES member.

Work Experience Requirements Specific to the Program
- Applicants should have minimum two years of work experience in an engineering position after the BS degree or currently employed on full time basis with a US based organization.
- Applicants without the required experience may be admitted provided they do a minimum of one full time internship during the program or complete three industry/business based projects (excluding the capstone project) during the course of the program. Copies of projects completed should be submitted to the program director prior to capstone project/thesis submission.
Length of Program – Measured by Semesters
- Part-time student: seven semesters taking six credits per semester
- Full-time student: three semesters taking 12 credits per semester
Graduate Assistantship Overview
- Six graduate half-assistantship positions are generally sponsored each year, and are available both fall and spring semesters.
- Graduate assistants in engineering management provide teaching and research assistance to faculty in a variety of situations.
